Three weeks already
It took only three weeks for the playground to ring once again with the morning hubbub, for everyone to find their friends, their place and their routines, and for the year to settle in for good.
We hope the start of the school year went well, that your children have found their bearings again—or created new ones. And above all, that they come home in the evening with that mix of tiredness and stories to tell that speaks to a full day.
A special thought for the families discovering our schools this year. The first days require patience, for the child as well as for their parents, until one morning they walk into the classroom without looking back.
This year, the network includes eight schools. Seven in the Île-de-France region, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Port-Marly, Rueil-Malmaison, Nogent-sur-Marne, Maisons-Laffitte, Suresnes and Vernouillet. The eighth, École La Fontaine in Cagnes-sur-Mer, joined us before the summer and is experiencing its first start of the school year with us. In the coming issues, we will take the time to introduce you to its teams, its routines and its key moments.
Across the seven schools in the Île-de-France region, the same way of working: guided freedom, structured and checked learning, and two languages from the earliest years. That said, each school retains its character, its rituals, its way of naming its classes or celebrating winter. Their identity lies in these details, and we are committed to them.
From now on, the school will write to you twice a month
From 8 October, this newsletter will settle into its rhythm: two issues per month, aligned with the school calendar, and just one in months interrupted by holidays.
Some of our schools already published their own newsletter—monthly here, every two months there. This format will take over, for the entire network. It is written based on what your Headteacher shares with us each month: if a moment stood out to you, tell her—there is every chance it will appear here.
A feature article will open each issue. Every other issue, it will present what is new across the network; the others, written by our Director of Teaching and Learning, will explain what is at stake behind the learning.
You will then discover what is happening in your school: all those small moments of sharing, laughter or concentration, class projects, and the teams. The kind of things your child only half tells you, and that you piece together in the evening, at the dinner table.
Finally, you will find your school’s diary: the dates that matter and those being prepared—meetings with the team, trips, performances, class meetings, open days. Enough to keep the family calendar up to date without chasing information, and without discovering an appointment the day before.
After our Cube schools, which lower secondary school for your children?
It is the question that comes up—often indirectly—at open days as well as at start-of-year meetings: after your school, will my child be accepted elsewhere?
We prefer facts to promises—especially when they come from the families themselves.
Of the 39 pupils who left our schools in June to enter Year 7, 36 families shared an update with us. And it is rather good news: 30 of these children obtained their first-choice school, and 5 their second choice.
The list of lower secondary schools that welcomed them is long and varied, reflecting the plans each family has built for their child.
In the private sector: Centre Madeleine Daniélou, Passy-Buzenval, l’Ermitage, Notre-Dame des Oiseaux in Verneuil-sur-Seine, Notre-Dame de Poissy, Saint-Thomas de Villeneuve, le Bon Sauveur du Vésinet, Saint-Augustin in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Sainte-Anne in Montesson, Saint-Joseph in Saint-Cloud, Saint-André, Saint-Exupéry in Vincennes, École bilingue Diderot, Lab School Paris, Ipécom Paris.
In the public sector: Jean Moulin in Croissy-sur-Seine, les Châtelaines in Triel-sur-Seine, Jean Cocteau, Georges Seurat.
Two of our former pupils entered a sports-study programme. Two others started the school year abroad, in Lebanon and Andorra, and a third followed their family near Toulouse. These admissions were made based on an application file.
*As École La Fontaine joined us before the summer, it is not included in these figures.
